Rofeibi Motorcycle Oil: A Legacy of Craftsmanship
The story of Rofeibi began in 1978, during China’s Reform and Opening era. In a modest workshop — Shanghai Hongqi Chemical Plant No.3 — China’s very first mineral-based motorcycle oils were created. These hand-filled bottles kept legendary domestic bikes like the Xingfu 250 running strong.
At the time, Technical Director Wang Jianguo wrote a simple note in his journal:
“Oil is not a petroleum byproduct — it is machinery’s lifeblood.”
Those words became Rofeibi’s guiding principle, passed down through generations of workers and engineers.
As Japanese four-stroke engines entered China, Rofeibi embraced the challenge and pushed technology forward:
- Introduced 10W-40 formulations designed for modern motorcycles
- Replaced outdated paraffinic oils with Daqing hydrocracked crude
- Pioneered ZDDP anti-wear additives
- Became Jialing-Honda’s first domestic lubricant supplier (1987)
The workshop’s bold motto — “Surpass Japan in five years” — came true by 1992, when the Iron Rider series earned JASO MA certification and began its export journey to Southeast Asia.
In 1999, German magazine Motorrad discovered something remarkable — Rofeibi oils outperformed established European brands in wear tests on the BMW R1100GS.
